Commissioning Engineer (Lead SAP)

About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

Responsible for the overall coordination and execution of safety from the system for the mechanical and electrical systems at the onshore & offshore substations and export cable including commissioning onshore at the assembly / construction sites. The key aspect of the role will be early engagement with the project team and EPC contractor to ensure all documentation and plans are in place to allow a smooth transition from construction to commissioning under safety rules.
- Health and Safety: Coordinate and manage commissioning activities within HSE, QA/QC, project, contractors and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) guidelines / requirements. Preparation and review of commissioning procedures and RAMS. Participate in HAZOP and HAZID studies.
- Plan, Organise and Control Commissioning activities: Plan, organise, monitor and support site activities to ensure safe, full and effective use is always made of resources and construction of the project(s) is achieved within budget and in accordance with Company and/or client policies and procedures. A key part of this role will be the integration of ABB SCADA control systems with the operator control and trading platforms.
- Team Management: Lead and manage the teams of SAP's and control engineers, supervisors, back office staff and technicians to ensure a high level of motivation and efficiency. Manage and allocate tasks to commissioning teams including contractors.
- Budgetary and Operational Control: Plan and execute the SAP activities for the whole onshore and the offshore sub-station transmission equipment including the export cables and also the pre-commissioning onshore at the construction / assembly yard.
- Team Performance and Development: Manage the Project team and individual performance ensuring all training and development needs are identified and fulfilled and any wellbeing or performance issues dealt with promptly according to established procedures.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Have a relevant technical education, for example an HNC/HND in engineering (ideally electrical engineering) or equivalent.
- Thrive on working in a management role and have prior experience of coordinating commissioning activities and managing the associated tasks.
- 5 yrs + experience of offshore wind farm construction, commissioning and/or operations in UK.
- Ideally, have previously worked as an electrical engineer or senior authorised person at least to 400KV.
- Have a strong personal drive and a robust sense of quality and professionalism.
